Addition of Orchard Design section

[edit]

We will be adding a section on cider apple orchard design later today. It will include information on traditional, bush, and high-density orchards and training systems. Elmogeo (talk) 19:49, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Varieties Listed

[edit]

There are a huge number of apple varieties used in cider, so those mentioned seemed a random subset. I have edited the page to include only those suitable for single variety ciders, as most firmly belonging to this category. There are varieties which are not suitable for any other use but cider making though they require blending, and they would be suitable for adding in, or could form their own page like the List of apple cultivars, or subcategory there, or full list here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by No essential nature (talkcontribs) 16:33, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The link to the Long Ashton page became broken despite the page still existing - not sure how to get it to work as a linked item - have linked it as a reference please link as in line link if it is still possible

Polyphenols/Tannins

[edit]

I will be adding a section on cider apple polyphenol composition. I will add a an additional heading 'Composition' and post my material under a subheading 'polyphenols and tannins'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gracemm0332 (talkcontribs) 23:28, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Polyphenols and Tannins edit summary

[edit]

I added general information about polyphenolic content of cider fruit with a brief overview of the types of polyphenolic compounds and varying concentration throughout the fruit. I also added information about the U.S. cider apple supply and use of exogenous tannins, and about the European supply of cider fruit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gracemm0332 (talkcontribs) 23:42, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
